Signing Day: Every 5

All the five-stars in college football's 2023 recruiting cycle have been updated ahead of the early signing period this week thanks to our 247Sports recruiting and scouting team. Led by Texas commit Arch Manning, the number of five-star prospects this cycle is set at 32, which reflects the total first-round selections each NFL Draft.

According to 247Sports national recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks, these players are not necessarily guaranteed five-star status at the end of the cycle in roughly seven weeks. Players could rise and fall within the 32 or potentially get passed for current high-level prospects knocking on the five-star door. The final 32 five-star reveal lands in late January ahead of February's traditional National Signing Day.

Outside of the top players in the 2023 class, transfer portal recruiting also hit its highest point over the weekend, the final days prior to January that players are allowed to visit due to the dead period.

Here's a look at the 32 five-stars in the 2023 class on Signing Day Eve.

2023 status: Committed to Texas

247Sports scouting report: "Possesses an ideal frame at 6-foot-4 and 215-pounds and growth potential to add additional 10 to 15-pounds to his frame at the next level. Displays above average athleticism and adequate mobility as a runner, increasing his rushing totals every season over the last three years. Appears to have good pocket awareness/presence and the ability to extend plays with his feet. Has enough mobility as a runner to have to respect him in situational down and distance areas.

"Exhibits clean feet in the pocket while demonstrating good foot quickness and play tempo in his drop. Displays excellent arm talent, showing the ability to make every throw on the field within the pocket. Shows the ability to drive the ball down the field and play with velocity. Excels as an intermediate passer, displaying the ability to consistently deliver the ball accurately and on time while playing with anticipation. Throws an exceptional deep ball, flashing outstanding touch and ball placement allowing him to throw his receivers open." — Cooper Petagna

2023 status: Committed to Tennessee

247Sports scouting report: "Iamaleava just continues to get better and his upside is as high as anyone in the ’23 class. He has an athletic 6-5 frame and is not just a talented quarterback but a gifted volleyball player as well. Has made huge strides over the last year in terms of his pocket feel, ability to throw on time and anticipate. He always had a big arm but can now change speeds, go through progressions and make accurate touch throws down the field look easy. He has exceptional escapability and is just as dangerous outside the pocket as he is throwing in it. He's always a threat to take off and run for big yards when flushed or on designed running plays.

"He's a tough kid as well who will stand in and take a shot and when he's running in the open field, he looks more like a big receiver than a signal caller. He's a natural leader with a high compete level and a great off the field work ethic. There are zero character concerns with him and he's a future captain who other players gravitate towards. There is not a throw on the field he can't make, he's comfortable throwing off-platform or being creative when he needs to be and combined with his rapidly improving football IQ and toughness, he has a chance to be a very special player at the next level and beyond." — Greg Biggins

2023 status: Committed to UCLA

247Sports scouting report: "Varsity starter since his freshman season. Has played well against top competition and in clutch situations in big games. Mature, polished, does not appear to rattle easily. Stands in against the rush and will deliver throws while taking hits. Does a nice job of reading coverages and does well throwing into windows against zone coverages. Anticipates well and gets rid of the ball quickly. Throws with good touch down the field. Can fire it in there when he needs to. Has good arm strength but would not classify the pure velocity as elite.

"Very consistent with ball placement and mechanics as we have seen very few wayward passes from him through three years of game and camp eval. Solid athlete who has added more mobility to his game as the years have gone on, but is not likely to be a big threat as a designed runner, but can do a little bit of that if needed. Physical traits are good, but it is his intangible traits that are elite. Works extremely hard and that total package projects him to be a multi-year college starter and someone who can be an early draft choice." — Allen Trieu

2023 status: Committed to Alabama

247Sports scouting report: "A larger-framed pass rusher that's best football still appears to be well ahead of him, which is bad news for future opponents. The first one off the bus with his hulking, muscular frame that looks to be pushing 6-foot-6, 245 pounds. Has a bit of a natural up-right demeanor to him, but isn't exactly stiff, and has shown time and time again on Friday nights that he can bend and find some leverage. Does a variety of different things well at this stage in his development, but the most promising trait might be his motor and ability to make stops/plays in backside pursuit. Has experience working out of both a two and three-point stance in a 4-3 base defense.

"Superb snap anticipation allows him to quickly shoot into the backfield and get to work. Tends to make the most of the opportunities presented to him as a well-timed spin move has turned into a bit of a money maker, but that's not the only trick he uses to get after the quarterback as he also can beat offensive tackles with a long-arm and bull rush. Not one to disappear against the run, but could always get a little more gap sound and will need to learn how to hold his ground against college veterans.

"Lack of verified data makes it hard to paint the whole picture, but should be viewed as one of the top defensive ends in the class of 2023 given length, fluid movement skills and production (racked up 16.5 sacks and 22 QBH as a junior). Must keep progressing and keep the right mindset, but has what it takes to eventually emerge as an impact player for a College Football Playoff contender and a possible Day 1 selection in the NFL Draft. Shouldn't be pigeonholed to one exact role as he could be molded into a variety of different things given growth potential." — Andrew Ivins

2023 status: Committed to Iowa

247Sports scouting report: "Has prototypical size and has short area burst and twitch at that size. Can run when asked to pull and make blocks in space. Has good strength and looks to finish blocks and plays with good general tenacity. Was not often challenged at the high school level though and often overwhelmed his opponents with pure size and strength. Still does not have any obvious big weak points, but continued technical development and then adjusting to college level competition will help ensure he reaches his upside. Has the physical ability to play very early and can be an All-American and early draft choice." — Trieu

2023 status: Committed to Miami

247Sports scouting report: "Special athlete that has the size and foot quickness to make a difference at football's highest levels. Seems to always be in control of his body, which is impressive for someone that's tipping the scales at just over 6-foot-5, 330 pounds. Still pretty green from a technical standpoint, but has made massive strides over the past two years and held his own in spotlight matchups against blue-chip pass rushers like Damon Wilson and Rueben Bain. One of the better down/move blockers we have seen in the class of 2023 as he fires out of his stance and drives would-be tacklers out of the way.

"Has limited issues getting to the second level and is very effective when asked to pull or get outside the hashes as he can open up big lanes for ball carries. Uses a wide base to find/establish leverage in pass protection, but must continue to improve that aspect of his game as he's much better at moving forward than he is backwards at this stage in his development. Could also get a little more efficient/effective with his hand placement. Has a unique background having grown up in American Samoa before making his way to California as a teenager and then eventually to Florida. Started at right tackle as a junior at the NFL factory that is IMG Academy before flipping over to left tackle as a senior.

"Doesn't exactly look like a franchise corner protector at first glance, but measurements (81-inch wingspan) and testing data (5.3 in the 40-yard dash and 4.5 in the short shuttle) paints a bit of a different picture. Is only going to get better with more seasoning and should be viewed as a multi-year starter for a Power Five program like his brother, who started over 30 games at center for Washington State and was named to the Rimington Award watch list. Rare explosive movement patterns and smash-mouth tendencies should draw plenty of looks from pro scouts." — Ivins

247Sports scouting report: "Smaller, compact build with well-defined muscle tone. Strong lower half. Electric pass catcher with elite speed. Game-breaker in space with potential to score from anywhere. Not just a burner; displays amazing concentration and hand-eye coordination. Flashes ability to sneak through traffic and separate early in his routes. Constant nuisance on vertical routes. Flashes tremendous body control and short-area burst. Special teams ace. Could continue to add bulk and improve durability. Potential multi-year starter at elite Power Five level with Day 1 NFL Draft upside." — Blair Angulo

247Sports scouting report: "Tall, lean, and long-armed with slender natural build but frame to add some mass. Fluid mover in general, including arm motion and lower-body mechanics. Range of motion in movement patterns fosters excellent off-platform passing ability and general playmaking acumen. Alters arm angles and delivers with accuracy. Vertical arm strength, intermediate velocity, and touch to all fields speak to elite arm talent. Perhaps the most natural thrower in an excellent 2023 QB group. Flashes the functional athleticism to extend plays outside the pocket, where finding a receiver is almost always the priority over tucking and running.

"Still, athletic enough to hurt defenses with legs on occasion. Sees the field well and processes naturally. Production has risen each of first three years in high school. INT rate is on the higher end of the spectrum for Top247 quarterbacks -- one every 30.6 throws as a junior, one every 29.9 in freshman through junior seasons. Adding mass and strength will help withstand physical demands of high-major ball. Very likely one of the nation's top quarterbacks — and overall prospects regardless of position — in the 2023 class. Projects as an impact starter at the high-major level with long-term early-round NFL Draft potential." — Gabe Brooks

2023 status: Committed to Miami

247Sports scouting report: "A new-age cornerback prospect that has a chance to be a difference maker at football's highest levels given his rare blend of size, length and speed. Started prep career off playing primarily wide receiver before being thrust into action on the defensive side of the ball. Excelled right away as a perimeter defender against top Sunshine State competition picking off nine passes as a sophomore and 10 more as a junior.

"Still very raw from a technical standpoint, but is athletic enough to carry and cover most vertical routes. Leggy transitions aren't exactly ideal, but has a knack for putting himself in position to make a play at the catch point and can quickly close gaps with an elite burst. Has experience working in both man and off-coverage. Not one to shy away from contact and is a rather spirited as an open-field tackler, but must improve in the boxing ring if he's going to settle in as a true bump-and-run corner on Saturdays.

"Tested off the charts as an underclassman posting a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash to go along with a 128-inch broad jump and a 4.3 in the short shuttle. Will need to eventually add mass to a slender frame and continue to refine footwork/technique once enrolled at the school of his choice, but has one of the highest ceilings in the entire class of 2023 given how he moves — and covers — for someone that's pushing 6-foot-2. Must learn how to block out mistakes and find some inner confidence once adversity hits, but has the physical makeup of a potential impact player for a College Football Playoff contender and a possible early-round NFL Draft selection if he can keep progressing. Could experience some initial growing pains, but freakish traits are worth molding for the long haul." — Ivins

2023 status: Committed to Alabama

247Sports scouting report: "The type of prospect that checks off all the right boxes. Always looks to be one step ahead of others. Athletic enough to get across the field and erase a touchdown, but also physical enough to come down hill and meet a running back in the A or B gap. Smooth and in control while in reverse as he keeps eyes in the backfield. Quick to trigger. Plants his cleats and drives towards the football better than most his age. Takes the right angles while in pursuit and has a few tricks to shed blocks once he meets traffic. Has experience working out of a variety of different coverages and has shown that he can be rather effective as slot defender in certain situations.

"Owns a high football IQ, which likely stems from his film study habits as he likes to watch cut up after cut up and identify trends. Viewed by his high school coaches as not only a team leader, but also a winner and someone that is going to do whatever it takes to elevate the play of those around him. Added almost 30 pounds of muscle between freshman and senior seasons and is now hovering right around 190 pounds. Will need to keep progressing and not get complacent, but should be viewed as one of the top safeties and overall prospects in the 2023 cycle given instincts, physical play style and ability to change directions. Will provide immediate special teams value at the next level and likely isn't going to need much time to get adjusted to the speed of the game on Saturdays. Has the makeup of a future star for a College Football Playoff contender. Should play on Sundays like his father and uncle did if everything comes together." — Ivins

2023 status: Committed to Oklahoma

247Sports scouting report: "Adequate height with the requisite frame and solid build. Functional athlete with enough suddenness in tight quarters to evade pass rushers and extend plays. RPO threat. Ball gets out fast with good velocity to multiple levels. Very good touch passer, whether vertically to the perimeter or elsewhere. Displays the requisite deep-ball strength fostered by a loose, live arm. Changes delivery angle as needed and maintains zip and accuracy. Shows ability to layer throws and beat zone windows. Good runner with above average speed relative to position and open-field lateral nuance that yields extra yards. Advanced pocket presence and rush awareness.

"Uses the inverted pivot to buy time and find receivers. Accurate from the pocket and on the move. Owns the desired demeanor for the position. Calm, poised, and competitive. Strong production vs. elite competition relative to the high school level (Texas 6A). Led team to Texas 6A D-II state title appearance as a junior. Values the ball. Only five interceptions in 445 throws as a junior (one INT every 89 attempts). Big enough but lacks elite frame potential. Deep shots occasionally have too much air. Through 2021 season appears to be the clear No. 1 QB in Texas for the 2023 recruiting cycle. Projects as a high-major starter for multiple years with a long-term NFL Draft ceiling." — Brooks

247Sports scouting report: "Owns all the requisite physical traits, from height / weight to plus length to large hands. Wears mass well and likely owns frame space to get to 300-pound neighborhood if desired. Exceptional strength at the point of attack. Flashes powerful, jarring punch with consistent stack-and-shed ability. Uses efficient economy of hand violence that enhances technique effectiveness.

"Displays impressive downhill pursuit juice relative to size and role. Early senior season snaps include multiple three-man spots i.e. 0-, 3-, and 5-techniques. Could fit myriad personnel looks given physical tools and functional athleticism. Possesses strong three-sport athletic profile that includes basketball and throws events. Has eclipsed 50-foot shot put threshold and 150-foot discus plateau. Explosive power transfers to the gridiron. Good combine testing data with excellent short shuttle numbers.

"Flashes throw-aside strength of offensive linemen. Plays violent with consistently hot motor. Sometimes shows some body control wobble that adds a tic to pursuit route. Pass-rush production is strong, but further along versus run at this point. Flashes disengaging ability and impressive swim, but expanding move set will continue to raise pass-rush ceiling." — Brooks

247Sports scouting report: "Checking in at a verified 6-foot-2 and 206 pounds, this multi-sport athlete who also plays basketball and competes in track and field has excellent overall athleticism. He has more than ample length with a 78-inch wingspan and 33-inch arms. With a muscular chiseled frame he does not have any bad weight on him. Possesses very good explosiveness and speed having a 37-inch vertical and 4.58 40 time that are both verified.

"Good change of direction as well as the ability to get in and out of his cuts easily. Does a good job of sticking his foot in the ground and pivoting on his routes when he is dropping his weight to make his move. He has soft hands and doesn't fight the ball, very natural in catching the ball and making a football move. Uses excellent body control when going up for 50/50 balls. He wins these contested catches the majority of the time where he is able to out-jump most defenders. Nice job using his size, quick feet and power to get off the ball when he is pressed by the defensive back and keep the timing on his routes. Does a good job using his speed to stretch the field as well as showcasing ability after catches. More than a willing blocker who is aggressive when blocking and can stay on his feet to control the defender." — Chris Singletary

247Sports scouting report: "Verified size with plus-five inch wing span. Already has strength throughout frame and carries 305 pounds like it is 270. Excellent athlete also wrestles and finished ninth at National Prep Wrestling Championships as heavy weight in spring. Evaluated Okunlola during a practice and game in first two weeks of senior season. Flexibility and ability to bend at knees stands out. Fires off low and thrusts up and into defender. Absorbs contact well. Is consistent with hand placement and sinks hips with consistency to win leverage. Is quick to shoot hands inside and has impactful initial punch. Moves feet well and quickly. Plays balanced and always keeps feet underneath him. Demonstrates high level body control. Moves well laterally and shows kick step.

"Can change direction and handles counters well. Ability to mirror with ease. Mixes physical play with being technically sound. Athleticism shines when pulling and when scraping and getting to the second level. Spends a lot of time working on technique away from practice. Is patient in pass pro and difficult to beat around edge because of laterally movement and length. Rarely gets caught bending at waist. Is not challenged snap-to-snap and easily dominates competition. Has to continue to work on staying engaged on run blocks while driving defender back. Has to continue to refine technique. Multi-year starter at elite level program. Has first-round NFL Draft potential." — Brian Dohn

2023 status: Committed to FSU

247Sports scouting report: "A freaky athlete. Grew up playing basketball and actually swam a little bit in high school before finding the game of football. Believed to be hovering right around 6-foot-3, 205 pounds at the start of his senior season. Owns a thick, muscular build and looks almost like a tight end or even a linebacker in street clothes. Explosive — and more importantly — coordinated in almost everything he does, which likely stems from his hoops background. Hasn't had the best of quarterback situations over the years, but has still found ways to take over games as he's uber competitive after the catch and can take a quick screen or swing pass and turn it into a monster gain. Understands how to win at the line of scrimmage with little jabs of his feet before getting vertical.

"Uses plenty of tempo as a route runner and does a nice job of shaking defensive backs by sinking his hips and exploding in and out of his breaks. Tracks the ball well once it's airborne and tends to always put himself in position to make a play at the catchpoint, which isn't surprising seeing as how he's a double-double machine on the hardwood. Top-end speed has raised some questions inside the scouting community without much verified data available, but does own one of the fastest verified max speed marks in the class of 2023 according to one advanced metric. Has improved significantly as a blocker since he was a skinny freshman and shouldn't have many issues holding his own out on the perimeter on Saturdays." — Ivins

Wiltfong reported earlier this month that Harbor was "blown away" by his recent visit to Maryland. Harbor's 247Sports Crystal Ball points to South Carolina, but Maryland, Michigan, LSU and Georgia are competing. Harbor is the highest-rated player who hasn't yet made his intentions known ahead of the early signing period.

Hill is the latest five-star to announce his commitment, doing so last week to the excitement of the Texas staff. Hill decommitted from Texas A&M last month, and the Longhorns' coaches had reportedly put on their full-court press to win his commitment.

A two-sport star at the high school level, Robinson is also a talented baseball prospect. The Under Armour All-American is in the final stretch of a national recruitment with a final five of Texas, Alabama, USC, Georgia and Oregon. He's expected to announce in February with Harbor.
